Isaac's 1 year pictures!

Here is my precious baby boy! His first birthday was Dec. 14th. I love how his pictures turned out! He makes the cutest faces.....

He loves his puppy... or anything soft for that matter...
I think he's getting ready to say "no" in this one. He's very dramatic when he says it sometimes.
Fish Lips!!!

I think this one is my favorite! Priceless!!! What a little man!

Contest!

One of my facebook friends' wife was in an online contest not too long ago, and I decided to enter the next one. It's a website called "Chunky Bling" and they make some super cute watch bands and bracelets. So I entered and I'm a finalist! They pick 5 names they like for people to vote for online. So I know most of the people who probably read this are friends with me on Facebook and have voted already, but if not, could you? Click on the link below and vote for "Grand 'Ol Swag" by Katie. Thanks everyone!

Jesus' Home

My son says the cutest things sometimes. When we talked to him about Jesus we told him that Jesus lives in his heart. Today he lifted his shirt up and I poked him in the ribs and said "I see your ribs!"

He said," Those aren't my ribs, mom. Those are Jesus' walls."

Where does he come up with it???

A day of Milestones!

My baby is 6 months old today! I can't believe it. I swear it didn't seem like Tyler grew this fast! I'm having a hard time thinking that in 6 more months we'll be celebrating his first birthday. I get all teary already just thinking about it. I will post his six month pics later this week... he is getting them done on Tuesday. And he got his first tooth today! And he's sleeping in big brother's room for the first time tonight! Talk about a day of milestones! He has been sleeping in the Pack and Play in our room up until now, so we'll see how the two of them do tonight! My boys are growing up so fast....

Grass Trained

Tyler has been completely potty trained since last November. Sometimes if we're outside and it's an emergency and there is no potty in sight we'll take him to a secluded area to let him go, like in the weeds or something, where nobody would normally walk or anything. Tonight we were at the church softball game and Tyler was playing over on the playground which was a pretty good distance from the field, but I could still see him pretty well. After the game we went to Wendy's with some people from the team and I realized Tyler hadn't asked to go potty for a pretty long time. Our conversation was as follows:

K: Tyler, do you need to go potty?
T: No.
K: Why not? It's been a while...
T: I went at the park.
K: You did??? Where???
T: The grass.
K: Where in the grass???
T: There was wood and the toys were here and I went on the grass. (In translation, he stood on the wood that separates the sand from the playground from the grass)

I laughed pretty hard, even though I'm a little mortified at the mental picture of him standing on the side of the playground "watering" the grass. I wonder if anyone saw him??? I did explain to him that he should come tell me if he has to go potty and he shouldn't just go wherever. There was a porta-potty close by! I am thankful he didn't have an accident, though! Ah, the joys of raising boys.....

Happy Mother's Day!

So here are some pics of my boys, I think they were taken about a month ago. Isaac is a big boy! Right now he weighs about 18 1/2 pounds and he is the happiest baby ever. Such an angel! Tyler still adores him and plays with him more now that he is starting to interact with us more. I love my boys! I can't imagine life without them!

I love Mother's Day! I always liked it before my kids came along, but now that I have kids I like it even more. It's just a nice relaxing day that we get to spend with family! Plus I love going to church and hearing the Mother's Day sermon. It's so encouraging and comforting, like a breath of fresh air. Sometimes it's hard doing the same thing over and over again everyday... it's easy to forget that there is a purpose for all of it! Plus, being a mom makes me appreciate my own mother even more, and being a wife makes me appreciate my mother-in-law even more, too! I am so thankful for them and what they have done for us, I only hope I can do the same for my children. Last year at this time I was pregnant with Isaac.... I remember thinking that the next Mother's Day I would be a mom of 2 and I couldn't wait! I am excited to spend it with both of them this year. After all, ti's because of them that I'm a mommy! Happy Mother's Day!

I will post new pics someday, I promise, but I'm just lazy. I'm lucky to even blog anymore! I thought I might update a little on what is going on in our lives and some of the cute things my boys have been doing:
Isaac is growing like crazy He is HUGE. He is 3 1/2 months old and I'm pretty sure he's over 16 pounds now. I had to put him in size 3 diapers which go from 16-28 pounds! It makes me so sad he's growing up so fast! He also smiles a LOT. He is such a happy baby. I was nervous when he was teeny tiny because he was so serious. Tyler started smiling at 4 weeks.... Isaac waited until he was a little over 6 weeks old. I thought I was in for it :-).
Tyler is such a little man. We went to the spring fair and he did this trampoline thing that had two tall poles on either side and then they attach these bungee cords to you and you can jump really high and do flips and stuff. He wanted to do it SOOOO bad so we decided to let him, thinking he would flake out at some point and not do it. Nope! He did it and did flips and everything! Dean stayed with him and I was watching all teary-eyed, not really believeing my little boy was old/big enough to be doing something like that. He looked like such a big boy in the harness thing they put on him, and then he just marched right up to it and climbed on. So cute!
He also has started praying more, mostly when he's scared or worried about something. The other day he was on the potty and got all worried and wanted to pray.... so he prayed that he wouldn't have diarrhea. Gross, I know, but still pretty cute. He also almost spelled his name! He was "writing" the other day and said he was going to write his name, so I hear "T.....Y......L..........E..........SPGNDO...etc." Just a coincidence? Dunno. I haven't taught him that much but I think they do it in Sunday school a lot....
So there are some updates on my boys.... I'll try to post some pics soon!

No TV

Yes, we still have a TV.... but we decided to leave it off for a week (starting last Friday) just to see what it was like.We watch sooo much TV we thought it would be an interesting experiment! Since Dean is a cable guy we get EVERY channel (really, every single one) and we have the DVR so I record all the shows I like and watch them when Tyler is sleeping. We're kinda cheating... all of the shows we watch are still recording so we can watch them when the week is up! It's been really good though, and I've missed it a little but not as much as I thought I would. Our TV used to be on all the time, even if we weren't watching it really. And, I'm a bad mom when it comes to the TV... I was letting Tyler watch WAY too much! When I was pregnant I'd let him watch cartoons just so he'd sit still and I could veg out and it had carried over after Isaac arrived. Now I know we can live without it! Another great thing is Tyler has been an angel! I don't think it's just a coincidence that he's been more well behaved since we don't let him watch much now. I have let him watch a little in the morning when I'm not ready to get out of bed, and today I let him watch some movies because he got a cold and didn't feel very good. Other than that he's been keeping busy with toys, coloring, and play dough. I'm sure I've been giving him a little more attention, too, since he's not just glued to the tube! I think I'm a little more productive since I don't just sit down to watch it. Dean has been pretty busy with work and the church school fundraiser, but when he has been home we've been having actual conversations a lot more! So really, while I do miss it a little and can't wait until I can start watching some of the shows I recorded, it's been a good experience. I think our TV will be off a little more now in the future :-).

Big Boys!

Ok, so my sons are big! they had their checkups today: Isaac's 2 month appointment and Tyler's 3 year appointment. Isaac is 100% in height, weight, and head size! He weighs 14 lbs. 11 oz. and is 24 inches long. Tyler was 100% for weight, 80% for height, and 90% for head size. I guess we grow them big, huh? What's funny is Tyler was even bigger than Isaac when he was 2 months old! Sheesh!
So, aside from that, they are both healthy. Isaac got his first shots and it was so sad, but he did really well. He only cried for a few seconds. He got a little grouchy this afternoon because I forgot to massage his legs where he got his shots (you're supposed to do that to keep the stuff from pooling in the muscle, but I remembered too late) so he got a knot in one of his legs and it was pretty sore for awhile. I felt so bad! He's better now though, back to his happy self!
Tyler had both the doctor and I cracking up... he just told story after story. He told the Dr. all about his birthday and what color of towels we all use (" my towel is white and mommy's is blue and daddy's is green and mommy uses one for her hair and body"). Then when the Dr. was listening to Isaac's heart Tyler told him that Jesus was in there. Is that just adorable? I sure love my boys!
